Ela Ada is a yummy dish which can be had as a snack or even for breakfast. It is a traditional Kerala recipe, which is a steamed rice cake. Let’s see how to make this healthy and yummy ela Ada.

Ingredients
Rice flour – 1 cup
Jaggery powder – 7 tbsp
Coconut (grated) – 7 tbsp
Apple / banana – 3 tbsp
Ghee – 1 tsp
Salt
Banana leaf – 7 pieces

 
Method
In a bowl take the rice flour and add hot water, ghee and a pinch of salt and knead it into a soft dough and keep it aside. Take the banana leaf and heat it up in the stove to avoid the leaf from breaking while folding. Get the coconut and jaggery powder ready. Now peel the Apple and chop them into small pieces.

 

Make the rice dough into equal size balls. Take a plate and keep the banana leaf and spread into a thin dough, now layer it with coconut, jaggery and Apple. 

Fold the banana leaf and make sure the Ada is also sealed on all sides , so that the ingredients don’t come out.

Now steam cook the ela Ada for 10 minutes, allow it to cool and serve the yummy delicacy!
