Carrot / Ghajar ka halwa is a traditional Indian dessert. It is very popular sweet dish which is very simple and easy to make. It can be prepared in minutes for any occasion or for guests. This recipe does not require any Khoya or grating of the carrots. Let’s get to make this delicious recipe!
Preparation time – 5 mins
Cooking time – 15 mins
Serves – 2
Carrot – 1 large
Milk – 200ml
Ghee – 3 tbsp
Sugar – 4 tbsp
Wash the carrots and peel the skin, roughly chop them. Take them in a mixer grinder and give it a whip. Give it a mix and whip again.
In a pan add some ghee and to this add the carrot and saute for 3 mins. Now add the milk and allow it to cook in a low flame for about 5 mins until the carrot is soft and cooked. Keep stirring for a while until all the milk is well incorporated into the carrot. Now add some more ghee.
To this add the sugar and stir well until the ghee leaves the sides of the pan and the halwa does not stick to the pan.
In a small pan add a tsp of ghee and fry some cashew nuts and mix them with the halwa.
Yummy quick carrot halwa is ready. It goes well with vanilla ice cream or by itself!
