Onion pakoda is a very quick savoury snack prepared for guest or for an easy evening snack with tea or coffee. Ragi/finger millet is rich in protein and calcium. It is easily digestible and can be given to kids. This is yet another easy way to include millets into our diet. I make this pakoda as a side dish for lunch instead of making the usual papad. It goes well with sambar, rasam, yogurt and other variety rice.

Ingredients

Finger millet/ Ragi – 1 cup
Onion – 1
Salt

Chilli powder – 1/4 tsp

Oil – To fry the pakoda

 

 
Method

 chop the onions into thin slices and keep it aside. 

In a bowl take the Ragi flour, salt and Chili powder and mix well. Add water to make it a batter consistency, to this add the onions and mix well.

Heat oil in a Kadai and fry them in batches. Enjoy this snack for a rainy evening or afternoon lunch!
