Raw mango is a rich source of pectin, it keeps the body hydrated and acts as a good thirst quencher. Pickles are a Favourite of all and it makes a simple ‘Thayir Sadham’ so delicious.

Raw mango – 1 small
Chilli powder – 1/2 tsp

To temper
Mustard seeds – 1/8 tsp
Fenugreek seeds – 7
Astfetida – 1 pinch
Sesame oil – 1 tbsp


Wash the mangos and cut them into tiny pieces. Mix them with salt keep it aside for a while. Dry roast the mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds and powder them in a mixer. Heat some oil in a tadka pan and add the ground powder and Chili powder and switch off the flame and transfer the content to the mangoes and mix well.

Instant mango pickle is ready. It tastes good with most of the South Indian rice dishes!
