Tomato chutney is a quick breakfast accompaniment for idly, dosa, bread or chapathi. Tomatoes are juicy and delicious that can be eaten raw in salads and sandwiches. Tomato though used as a vegetable they are actually a citrus fruit. The lycopene in tomato reduces cholesterol and improves heart health. Tomatoes are high in water content and helps eliminate toxins, excess water, salt and fat.

Ingredients
Tomato – 1
Garlic – 2 cloves
Chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
Salt

 
Method

Take all the above ingredients in a mixer grinder and make a fine paste. 

In a Kadai heat oil and add in the mustard seeds. 

Now add the paste and sauté for a while, water can be added if the consistency has to be changed. 

Allow it to cook until all the raw flavour is gone and the tomato is well cooked.

Tomato chutney can be quickly done as the idly is getting steamed or while making the dosa.
