Coconuts are nutritious and high in dietary fibre, vitamins and minerals, iron, selenium, sodium, calcium, magnesium and phosphorous. It has Antibacterial, Antiviral, Antifungal, Antiparasitic properties and supports the overall Immune system.
Coconut thin slices – 1 cup
Roasted split gram (Pottukadalai) – 1/4 cup
Green Chilli – 2
Curry leaf – 7 to 8
Shallots – 3
Ginger – 1/2 inch ginger
Coriander leaves – 5 to 6
Tamarind – small piece
Add the above ingredients to a mixer and grind to a coarse thick paste by adding little water. The consistency can be altered according to the need by adding water.
Split black gram – 1 tsp
Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
Shallots – 3 to 4 thinly sliced
Dry chilly – 1
Curry Leaves – 10
Oil – 1 tbsp
Take a pan add oil , mustard seeds once they splutter add in the dry chilly, curry leaves, then add in the split black gram (Urad dal), shallots and saute until the shallots are done.
Coconut chutney can be had with idly, dosa, pongal, vada and with rice.
